1. Mental Toughness and Achieving Excellence Workshop:

In these challenging times, organisations are even more aware of the importance and impact of mental toughness and resilience in the workplace. This hugely popular one day programme introduces participants to the impact of resilience on personal and team performance as well as providing a range of tools to facilitate coping with pressure and developing mental toughness. In this fascinating “talking heads” session, Steve Bull will explore with Michael Vaughan exactly how he went about leading one of the world’s most high profile teams. Vaughan’s captaincy approach holds a range of impactful lessons for leaders in business.

Whether in sport or business, creating a winning environment requires strong and authentic leadership. Michael Vaughan is undoubtedly such a leader. His open, and frank, style is always a hit with corporate audiences and combined with Steve Bull’s experience and knowledge as a performance psychologist, they make a formidable pairing.

We are also delighted to announce that Hugh Morris the Managing Director of the ECB will be Introducing Michael and Steve as well as providing a fascinating “overview” of the current status of England Cricket in his role as Managing Director of the England Team.

Michael was first appointed captain of the England one-day cricket team in 2003. He quickly demonstrated his exceptional capability as a leader both on and off the field. Under Vaughan’s leadership, England achieved a record-breaking eight successive Test Match victories during 2004 before eclipsing this by famously winning the Ashes series in 2005 – a thrilling contest that captured the imagination of millions around the world and confirmed the impact of Vaughan’s remarkable leadership. Of the 51 Test Matches in which Vaughan led the England side, the team achieved 26 victories which makes him the most successful English captain ever. Among his many current professional interests Vaughan is now a commentator for Channel 5 and the BBC’s Test Match Special.

Dr Steve Bull

Dr Steve Bull

Steve is a Chartered Psychologist with a 25 year track record of working with high performers in both sport and business. He has been Headquarters Psychologist for the Great Britain Team at 3 Olympic Games and has worked with the England Cricket Team since 1997 – first as “team psychologist” and now as a “leadership coach”. Steve has worked in the corporate world as a coaching psychologist since the late 1990s and has consulted with a wide range of companies in Europe, the USA and the Middle East. During this time he has established himself as a leading expert on mental toughness and resilience in the workplace. He is the author of 8 books and in 2006 was awarded an honorary doctorate for “outstanding services to international sport psychology”.

Hugh Morris

Hugh Morris

Hugh was one of the most consistent and successful batsmen in Glamorgan's history in addition to winning three Test caps playing for England. He captained Glamorgan for two successful periods as well also captaining England A to South Africa, West Indies, and Sri Lanka. Since retiring from playing, Hugh has worked for the England and Wales Cricket Board in the posts of Technical Director and Deputy Chief Executive before being appointed as the first Managing Director of the England cricket team. Since taking up this role England have won back-to-back Ashes series and achieved No.1 ranking in the world for both Test and T20 cricket.
